Day Four - Schmoozing In Whitehorse, Yukon Territories

Wow.   Today was a terrific day here in Whitehorse.   I could spend some serious time here.

The day began early as I went to take the car to be washed.   It sure needed it.  Then, because the temperature was absolutely PERFECT - 50's and 60's - I hiked for the next 4 hours, starting all around the town.

Then onward to the hiking-biking trail along the Yukon River.

There were plenty of spots along the trail for quiet reflection and giving gratitude for my being able to be here:

I thought about renting one of these canoes and taking it onto the Yukon River.    Then I remembered: "Yo!   You don't know how to row a canoe!"   And given the very strong current in the river, I'd get out there and I'd be helpless against a current that would take me to Japan!   Japan is not currently on my Bucket List.   So, hearing music from a street festival nearby, I dropped all thoughts of canoeing.

BUT...Karl Ryan Mueller, are you listening?...I did chat up a gorgeous, single young lady in her 20's  at the canoe-rental office.   She works for Fox Bay Retreat, just up the road at Lake Laberge here in the Yukon.   She would be PERFECT for you, Karl: loves the outdoors, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing as well as enjoying the solitude of the cabins at the resort.    I thought of you right away.

As for me, I moved on to the street festival.   This couple was really great, singing and playing.

Tom & Jeff - Got your mucking boots ready?  The goat products (cheese, butter, soap, etc.) were a very popular draw

Then back to the Yukon River where I schmoozed up some new lady friends.

Single guys my age: the gold rush is over, but there are gems of other sorts here.  These ladies were charmers.  C'mon up!!

And so ends Day Four along the Alaska Highway.   All in all, it was a terrific day.   I could really enjoy myself here.  Tomorrow I head for Dawson City, THE lynchpin of the gold rush days.   I'll be sorry to leave all the art galleries, the music scene, the coffee shops, the Wed-Sun street festivals, the bookstores and all the friendly people of Whitehorse.   But, as they say here:  "Mush, mush!"
