After 2 ferry crossings and lots of desolate tundra, I finally arrived in Inuvik! Literally the end of the road. The Dempster Hwy ends here, and there is no other road northward except an "ice road" that's used only during the winter months.

Most folks were at the Ocean Day Festival as seen to the right.
And then here's a photo of some of their colorful homes.
I'd hoped to stay at least 1 night in Inuvik and really explore it. But there are 3 hotels in town, and all were completely booked. There was the Ocean Day Festival going on, there was a religious revival going on and a Circumnavigation Festival too. Lots and lots of people, but I was only one of 3 Anglos in town that I saw. Everyone else was of First Nation heritage. Friendly though.
Given that there was no place to sleep, that meant I had 2 ferry rides and a long desolate ride back to Eagle Plains. It also meant that - unfortunately - I had to leave. Quickly! So...back to the tundra I scurried...
