Jasper, British Columbia

Jasper marks the northern border of the Banff-Jasper National Park system.  I've been to Jasper before, and it's another very crowded resort town.

Along the highway I passed a few small groups of cyclists, all wearing a "Texas 4000" cycling kit.   I was surprised, so I met up with them just prior to entering Jasper.   Turns out that they've cycled all the way from Austin, Texas.   Their goal is Anchorage.   Of course, I immediately got excited by that challenge...terrific way to lose weight, eh?     "Go to texas4000.org to find out more!"  As soon as I had web connection I logged on, hoping to sign up.   Alas, this organization is a fund-raiser for cancer research.   Only highly-selected University of Texas students are offered the opportunity to participate, based on academics and community service.   Rock on, kids!

Well,  I wasn't interested in the Mosh Pit known as Jasper.   Instead, just prior to Jasper there's a small, quiet park along the Yellowhead River.   I turned in here for lunch and a massive dose of serenity:

Then, just outside of Jasper, another dose of serenity:

Cool, huh?

  1. It's too bad Jasper is a mosh pit, but the park outside of it is certainly beautiful!

It's also a shame (sort of) that theTexas4000 is restricted in its participation. (I say sort of because... 4,000 miles on a bike? I would be worrying about chafing! LOL!)
